Poverty Reduction Strategies

A Poverty Reduction Strategy is exactly what it sounds like: a strategy to reduce poverty.

Currently, there are no Poverty Reduction Strategies in place for either North or South Dundas, and neither municipality seems to be in the process of creating one. This is something Linking Hands hopes to see change in the near future.

In 2014, House of Lazarus partnered with the Social Development Council of Cornwall and SDG to create a Poverty Reduction Strategy for our region. Since then, the two groups, in partnership with several other agencies have been working on several of the recommendations made within that report. For a pdf of the report, click on the visual to the right.

There has been a Poverty Reduction Strategy in place in Ontario for more than 10 years, with the most current strategy being designed for 2014 through 2019.

Canada released its first Poverty Reduction Strategy in August 2018.

Below there are links to the current provincial and federal documents, as well as the relevant websites.
